Thanks so much for joining!

We are so glad you joined the workshop Liz Heflin hosted today about helping authors self-publish with confidence.

For the impatient ones, here is your free self-publishing checklist. :)

To keep it short, below is a summary of what went down.

  1. The self-publishing market is predicted to grow by 16-17% each year until 1933.
  2. Self-publishing is best for prolific writers, series writers, impatient authors, niche markets, writers of popular genres, and authors with a large platform.
  3. Self-publishing authors can make more in royalties, but only if they spend a lot of time working on visibility. They also have more control over how their book will look. On the downside, self-publishing can be costly and risky, with limited access to the distribution abilities of traditional publishers.

Book production basics include finishing the manuscript (obvs), getting it professionally edited, finding a fab interior layout and cover designer, and choosing the best platforms to self-publish on.

Marketing is a beast and more time-consuming and tear-provoking than writing the darn thing. Have a good pre- and post-launch plan and be ruthless in following it.

Hiring a self-publishing coach can save you tons of time and help prevent newbie mistakes.

Design can be DIYed but can take weeks to learn.

Again, it was a pleasure meeting you all. I hope your books turn out to be best sellers.
